Scheduled appointment from 30 October to 7 November to discover the project for the decommissioning and management of boats at the end of their life

To network, find new partners active in the nautical sector and to raise awareness of the national collective system, Area Science Park, national research and innovation body, and Innovando Srl, a company from Veneto region that develops post-production and post-consumption waste management solutions, will be present at the Bologna International Boat Show with a stand dedicated to the REFIBER project.

The decommissioning and management of the disposal of boats at the end of their life is, in fact, a significant environmental as well as socio-economic problem and therefore requires a collective commitment as well as investments in research and development of new green technologies. The materials deriving from the dismantling of the hulls, in particular the fiberglass which with 60% represents the most abundant and most difficult fraction to treat, can be a resource from which to start to develop new business models for the entire supply chain.

REFIBER is examining already consolidated schemes such as the EPR-Extended Producer Responsibility, starting from the involvement of producers and distributors of pleasure boats, to give a concrete answer to the environmental and socio-economic problem connected to illegal disposal of hulls for which a structured model does not exist so far.
